Michigan Works! summer job fair part of district’s commitment to preparing students for success in the workforce and beyond
BALDWIN, Mich. — With summer just around the corner, Baldwin High School students
recently met with local employers to learn about jobs that can help keep their minds and bodies fit while on break. The job fair, sponsored by Michigan Works!, is part of the district’s
commitment to preparing students for success in the workforce and beyond.
“Summer is the perfect time for students to learn the value of hard work and the satisfaction of receiving a paycheck for a job well done,” said Brandon Childress, Promise Zone Coordinator. “We are proud to partner with Michigan Works! to introduce our Panthers to local job opportunities that help students develop these and other critical skills that last a lifetime.”
The job fair was part of the district’s Work Experience Program with a primary focus on summer employment for local students. Students met with representatives from 10 local employers and applied for open positions on the spot at the May 1 event at the high school. Employers at the event included:
▪ 876 Baldwin Restaurant
▪ Jones Homemade Ice Cream
▪ Pompeii’s Pizza
▪ Grand Oaks Nursing Center
▪ District Health Department #10
▪ Kestrel Tiny House
▪ Shrine of the Pines
▪ Fabric Peddler
▪ Red Tree Curiosities
▪ Marquette Trails Golf Club
“At Baldwin Community Schools, it is our mission to equip all students with real-life skills
outside the classroom that help prepare them for future success,” said David Forrester, the
district’s superintendent. “Our job fair was part of our ongoing commitment to giving all
Panthers the tools to achieve and succeed.”
