Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math event part of district’s commitment to preparing students for success, careers
BALDWIN, Mich. — Baldwin Elementary School students introduced their ideas to keep the Earth healthy at last week’s Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math Fair (STEAM) at the elementary school gym. The annual science-focused event is part of the district’s continued commitment to preparing students for success and in-demand careers.
The presentations included displays and models created by students in kindergarten through fifth grade focused on recycling and other methods to protect our land, water and air.
“I would like to congratulate our amazing students for presenting their innovative ideas to invest in the future of our planet at our annual STEAM Fair,” said Diane VanAntwerp, Baldwin Elementary School principal. “Our students used their creativity and ingenuity to create displays that demonstrate their commitment to protecting our environment for generations to come.”
Fellow Baldwin students, families and community members attended the April 27 event, which also included food and prizes. During the day, Baldwin Elementary students visited the JuniorSenior High School Science Fair. Student guides from the high school provided a tour of their science fair for the younger students. The high school students also led a fun science activity with the elementary school students.
“At Baldwin Community Schools, a high-quality STEAM education plays a central role in our continued efforts to prepare our Panthers for bright futures and jobs,” said David Forrester, Baldwin Community Schools superintendent. “In addition to displaying their unique ideas for the Baldwin community, our students demonstrated leadership in being good stewards of our environment and planet.”
